The Annual Flat Rock "Run for Ryan" (second Saturday in September) is a special dedication in honor of Ryan Sergent. The run is a memorial established in memory of Ryan, who collapsed and died while practicing with the Flat Rock Cross Country Team his senior year October 9,1997. Without any warning, God decided to call home one of his best. The pastor of his church described Ryan as vibrant, loving and caring. His friends described him as someone who always took time to care about others, especially those in need.  Ryan's family and friends hope to exemplify his compassion and dedication to help those in need. We feel we can give Ryan no better gift than to carry on what he often called his purpose in life - bringing happiness to others.
