All photos will be showcased and voting for the "Worst Turf on Earth" begins Monday August 11 - September 12, 2008.
Winner will be announced at the Perennial Exchange at One Heritage Place, in Southgate on September 20th.

Worst Turf Contest Rules:
You could win a valuable prize package!

1. Submit your photo of your lawn through our submission form. Submit your Photo! and one paragraph (maximum 25 words) online explaining why you think you should be chosen for an Worst Turf.

2. Your online entry provides you an opportunity to win the Worst Turf valuable prize package to be announced at a later date by The News-Herald.

3. Photo submission will begin on Monday July 14, 2008. All entries must be received no later than 5:00 PM on August 8th, 2008 and will be posted and showcased on the this website.

4. Online voting for the "Worst Turf on Earth" will begin on Monday August 11, 2008 and run through September 12th 2008. Readers and viewers can cast their vote to pick the 3 finalist.

5. One online vote allowed per day per computer IP address throughout the duration of the contest.

6. Only online voting will be accepted. No printed copies or facsimiles will be accepted at our offices or any sponsor businesses.

7. On Saturday September 20th, 2008 at the Southgate Perennial Exchange, the prize package winner will be chosen by random drawing from the three submitted photos receiving the most number of votes.

8. Winners must be willing to allow the use of name and photo for future promotional purposes.

Official Rules:
1. By entering a contest, winners agree to these rules and the decisions of the judges and further agree to allow 21st Century Newspapers to use their names and photos for publicity purposes without and their compensation.
2. Employees and independent contractors of 21st Century Newspapers and any affiliated companies and their respective immediate families are not eligible.
3. Entries must be received by the deadline listed in the advertisement or section. Winners will be randomly selected and notified by phone and/or email. Due to the time sensitive nature of the contests, winners will have two hours from first notification to respond before prize is forfeited in favor of the next randomly drawn entry. Every reasonable attempt to contact winner will be made.
4. No purchase necessary. Official entry forms may be picked up at The News-Herald, One Heritage Dr., Suite 100, Southgate, MI 48195. Only one entry form per person per daily visit will be given out.
5. By entering a contest, you grant permission to 21st Century Newspapers and/or its advertising partners.
6. All prizes will be awarded. No prize transfers or substitutions, except by sponsor due to unavailability. Prizes may be substituted for prizes of like value at the sponsor's sole discretion.
7. Winner's may need to pick up their tickets at The News-Herald lobby located at One Heritage Dr., Suite 100, Southgate, MI 48195.
8. Promotion is subject to federal, state and local regulations and laws, and is void where taxed, restricted or prohibited. All taxes related to the value of the prize are the responsibility of the winners and a W-9 must be filled out.
9. Odds of winning based on number of entries received. Only official entries will be accepted. Any facsimiles and other reproductions will not be counted. One entry per envelope.
10. This promotion may be canceled or postponed at the discretion of the publisher.
