Pittsfield Township police responded to a burglary alarm early Monday morning and found another area break-in involving stolen cigarettes.

The alarm went off at about 1:34 a.m. at a business in the 4000 block of Washtenaw Avenue, according to the Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety.

After responding officers determined there was a burglary there committed by a lone suspect, police attempted to locate the suspect with the help of an Ann Arbor police canine unit.

The search for the suspect, who stole cigarettes from the business, was unsuccessful. The burglary is still under investigation.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s who is about 6 feet tall. He has a thin build and short, sandy blonde hair.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety at 734-822-4911.

Cigarettes were also stolen in some recent, similar burglaries in Ypsilanti Township. Burglaries were reported on Jan. 15 at Target II Party Shoppe, 4 N. Hewitt Road, and on Jan. 13 at Harvest Liquor Store, 1645 Holmes Road.
