Friday Football: Pioneer finishes with a win
For most of the season, the Ann Arbor Pioneer football team has relied on running back Drake Johnson to shoulder the offensive load.
On Friday night, in the team’s last regular season game against Livonia Franklin, the story was no different.
Johnson scored all three of Pioneer’s touchdowns as the Ann Arbor team coasted to a 20-0 victory.
While the Pioneers took the game in a shutout, the game was very much up for grabs in the first half.
The opening two quarters were a struggle as neither team was able to score, and entered halftime knotted up in a 0-0 tie.
In the third quarter, Johnson and the Pioneers finally got on the board with a 58-yard touchdown run.
Eric Kristensen nailed the kick and the Ann Arbor team took a 7-0 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Pioneers continued their onslaught.

“I thought we had a strong game,” he said. “Drake is a threat to score every time he touches the ball, and he showed that tonight.
“Franklin is a strong, physical team, and I thought we did a good job of keeping them on their heels.”
